Jamal Simmons to meet with Latino lawmakers

Vice President Kamala Harris’ new communications director, Jamal Simmons, is to meet with Latino lawmakers to explain his past tweets about immigrants. Simmons is scheduled to meet virtually on Thursday with members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. A day after his new role was announced, immigration rights advocates revealed tweets from 2010, in which Simmons tweeted about the appearance of two “undocumented folks” that were on MSNBC. Simmons began his new role by traveling last week with President Biden and Harris to Atlanta for their statements on voting rights.
