Expanding TPS For more Ukrainians!
April 20, 2022
The Biden administration announced it will be expanding TPS (Temporary Protected Status) for Ukrainains. Those who have been in the U.S. since April 11 will be eligible to apply for 18 months of deportation protection and work authorization. This announcement expands the window for TPS designation by over an extra month. Thousands more Ukrainians will now be eligible under the TPS expansion. Lawmakers and advocates have urged the administration for weeks to change the original TPS qualification date that was originally March 1. Along with TPS, the administration also plans to use a “full range of legal pathways” to resettle 100,000 Ukrainian refugees President Biden promised to accept into the United States.
